i would install gfi receptacle and connect garburator using plug but he should consult city about regulation in his area because it vary in different locations

3 step-pass exam and get red seal valid all over Canada

red seal mean red seal- licence/once you get it it valid all over Canada/
Couple years ago when you pass exam with score 60 to 70 you got licence.with score over 70 it was red seal.Now it only red...

construction and maitenance licence included industrial licence and will be recognized in Alberta like general electrician licence i belive/holder of industrial electrician licence have to sit exam

your apprenticeship is included in 9000hr
once you pass exam you will be holder of red seal which is valid all over Canada

no one safety device give you 100% safety.breaker not 100% protect you against short,gfi not 100% protect you against current leaking,so what?you need to apply common sence to all safety devices in...

in 1998 edition it in rule26-700 (13)and it mentioned only bathroom and washrooms and states-all receptacles within 3m from washbasin.tubs and shower must be protected-non about kitchen plugs

sinks(wash basin complete with drainpipe) is not mentioned bathroom or kitchen only sink and kitchen sink is washing basin with drainpipe only for washing dishes not hands in my understanding

kitchen plugs normally have 2 phases (upper one phase/bottom second )so you have to look on panel for gfi double pole breaker.
to be electrecuted you have to create way for current to earth-without...

in Canada all plug within 1 m from sink must be GFI protected
breaker in panel here for line protection not for device protection.
all breaker rated for 15 a will trip on 13a(code)
only...

in Canada panel fuses or breakers are for line protection.Devices are not protected.You cant simply replace plug-line voltage in Canada 125 V,in England 220V
