Hi all,

We'd like to travel to Oz in Feb 2011 and would prefer to have dates/times sorted asap so that we can book our accommodation (which is fairly popular).

Are there any sites/airlines that...

Re: Perth or Brisbane for IT guy

Why not use one of the job sites (like seek.com.au) and have a search for jobs matching your skill-set - that's the most accurate way tbh.

ACS recognition - Does it expire?

Hi all,

Just a quick question. When I go down the RPL route with ACS, if they recognise my skills - do I then have to apply for my visa within a set amount of time?

Re: (Self-employed) & earning money from the web.

Re: (Self-employed) & earning money from the web.

Thanks, I'll take a look.

Although I have a proven income history, I doubt I'd be employing anyone though as I don't have a need for it - the site pretty much runs itself.

Re: (Self-employed) & earning money from the web.

No problem :)

You're correct in that I can run it from anywhere in the world, be it the UK or Oz.

I guess I'm asking if I can/could apply as being self-employed rather than going through the...

Exclamation (Self-employed) & earning money from the web.

I know there are a few web-developers on here, so I'm hoping someone can relate to my circumstances.

I'm full-time employed as a PHP/C# .NET web developer but also run a couple of websites that...

Re: Perhaps an insane question...but why exactly are you leaving?

I like the idea of bringing up my kids in Australia, I hope the warmer weather will bring new opportunities to them. I also like the idea of the adventure and doing something a bit crazy - even if it...

Re: "Down Under Live" - April 2009 @ Earls Court 2, London

Yeah, if you're interested in the ideal home show (which I'm not) then it'd probably be a better deal, plus I can't even apply for another year unless someone offers me a job

Re: "Down Under Live" - April 2009 @ Earls Court 2, London

We were going to go, heck I even created this thread, but alas I'm not convinced of the company running the show nor the show's content, and as we were travelling from Bristol - I'm not willing to...

Re: why emigrate anywhere in a recession?

As you say...

It's all relative, meaning it makes no difference where you live - you'll still be affected by it.

Re: Taking your pets

Sorry to gatecrash your thread, just wondering though - how much roughly does it cost to ship a cat over to Oz?

We're not planning to move for ages yet, but was just wondering.

Re: Where to go in Oz (wanting to impress family)

True enough, but you'll never experience reality when you compare it to somewhere else.

All I meant was that I want them to know how hot it gets ;)

We don't plan to live anywhere as yet, that...

Re: Where to go in Oz (wanting to impress family)

Thanks for all your suggestions :D

Re: "Down Under Live" - April 2009 @ Earls Court 2, London

Does anyone know if it'd be a 'good idea' to take the kids (3 and 11) - I won't bother if it's going to be bording for them but I'd like to keep the whole thing a family adventure where possible.

"Down Under Live" - April 2009 @ Earls Court 2, London

As a previous subscriber of "Australia and New Zealand" magazine, I've just received a letter about the "Down Under Live" event at Earls Count in April (sponsored by Channel 4's "A Place in the...
