That's possible but it's also possible that more people can afford something but not everything.

Manitoba has a pharmacare scheme (https://www.gov.mb.ca/health/pharmacare/general.html). This is possibly another of those situations where people think something is available but it's not for them....

In my early days in Moncton there was a local forum and there was a small core of posters dead against RCMP and wanting an alternative. I remember they kept pointing to the cost of the local force...

It does happen though. Rare, maybe. Apparently the last one here was in 2010 in similar circumstances a youth was sentenced as an adult.

A few days ago I read a heartwarming item in the local paper about staff at the city library allowing homeless people to pass time in the library, keeping warm, sleeping etc.

It was a small court, in the middle of nowhere with only a general store for company.

Even for much bigger Moncton it's quite noticeable reading the local paper, how often the same three names for...

Two court reports in the paper today. Same prosecutor, same duty counsel and presumably same judge. Two reports of animal neglect and SPCA seizing animals.

The cat case - 184 cats seized, 110...

It was so much easier on the run in the old days when you just had to head for the tree line when you heard an approaching helicopter and then emerge when you knew it had passed. :lol:
