Probably - but I wonder how many don't commute on it because they have no option if they miss the last one. Or how many people would have a night out in Vancouver if they knew there was a train at...

The train is certainly a better option than driving if you have to commute from MR to town for a normal office day. It would be cool if they made it a proper service like the thames link - doubly so...

Do you use the west coast express then?

I know people that use it that think it's great. I'd definitely use it from time to time if it ran every 15 minutes all day.

If you work regular hours yes, not so much if you want to get home by 2pm so you can sit in the garden.

You don't need a lot of money to live downtown - you need it to lead the kind of lifestyle the OP wants to live.

If you are only a few years out of uni don't come to Canada to live in port moody...

I've used the greyhound to whistler a couple of times. It's a good service, but with a car it's just much easier, particularly if you have your own kit.

I stand by what I said. An aspirational lifestyle like the OP wants is going to cost $200k a year min. I'm sure you can do it for less, but...

True. I flew from Kyoto to LHR via Helsinki with finn air once; that do this day remains my worst ever flying experience. That's saying something given that I've flown china airlines... <shudder>

I'd say the opposite is the case. Europe is further away. Most of asia is either further away, or at best the same distance.

$200k isn't enough if they want to save in a meaningful way (i.e. to get a house deposit in a 2 or 3 years) and live that lifestyle. I also think they'll want a car.
