Been there, done that. Lived in mainland Europe most of my life!

Dentistry is all private. Expensive but good. You can get insurance but I don't think it is good value for money if you have to pay all the premiums. You should find out what benefit package your OH's employers are offering..

Childbirth is within the public system and not an extra cost.

At first it will be a sole salary, I'm not planning on living downtown, possibly Port Moody (approx 45mins from where I'll work and my wife holds out hope of seeing an orca from there), we're not planning on buying or having kids anytime soon and we already have a car.

We're only looking for one decent holiday a year and maybe some weekends up at whistler. The main issue is trying to find an apartment as big as we have now (1200) even taking into account it'll be more expensive. Thanks for the numbers earlier in the thread, gives a me a good base to work from.
An Orca from Port Moody? She'll have along wait i think

There is a separate payment in BC. For a couple about $110 a month. Some employers will pay this on behalf of their employees.

I'd say the opposite is the case. Europe is further away. Most of asia is either further away, or at best the same distance.

You don't need one in the city. You need one to get out of it. Do you want to go skiing in whistler?

However, Oceania and the rest of the Americas is much closer!
