So as long out of the UK as he spent there. You could try for a RRV - no IHS and eligible for citizenship in three years - but a UK Ancestry visa would be the safer option.

Sit tight and wait for the request for your daughter to complete her biometrics. That’s usually the final stage before approval.

You can do it yourself. Even with an immigration adviser assisting you, you would still largely be doing all the legwork yourself.

You shouldn’t need to send your parents’ certificates with your application if you’re a British citizen by registration and you are only required to send a photocopy of your South African passport.
