But I've never seen a chippy in the south where you couldn't get haddock. I agree that for us southern ponces cod is the usual but you can always get haddock.

Kulu Kulu on Brewer Street in Soho was/is a kaiten (conveyor-belt) place that did good sushi, and it did often have Japanese people eating there, so it's not *always* a bad sign.

The only time I've had tilapia that I liked was from a Japanese katsu place around the corner from where I used to work in midtown NYC. They used to do it in breaded chunks as part of a bento. ...

I wonder if flounder differs by location - I always categorized it with plaice in the UK and I really don't like plaice, but in New England it seems less "flat" and more like cod to me.

Flounder is one of the most usual (along with "scrod" which I understand is young cod) fishes to be served as fish and chips in New England. It's pretty good IMO although I have to agree with...

You've probably never had really good, proper sushi or sashimi then. I've never been to Japan, but when we worked in that London we'd often go to some of the sushi places in Soho that you knew...
