The container reaches Montreal...

Re: Best Shipping company?

Maybe it was just this consultant, but I just had Fox tell me that I couldn't ship our household contents because my husband is only on a TWP.
They later retracted that in two stages; first, saying...

Re: Best Shipping company?

I started packing early with the non-regular use things like CDs and books and clothes that belong to my husband (who is already in Canada), spare bedding etc because I knew by myself it would be a...

Re: GB Liners quote

I didn't think it, I was told it by the rep from GB Liners last week.
He basically said it was because the C&E folks didn't trust individuals to be honest about what was in the boxes/container and...

Re: GB Liners quote

Do you mean that you are packing the whole container yourself?
If so, I have had a similar quote from a company First Move International, but what put me off that was not the difficulty of packing...

Re: Best Shipping company?

Now you can see whay other people buy off E-bay - they let other people buy new things, take them out of the boxes, build them, scratch them, disassemble and then re-package them
And then they buy...

Re: Best Shipping company?

This is not allowed and if they find new things in your consignment they will not be happy and you will have to pay import duty on them. The rules say the items must be yours and must have been in...

Re: Best Shipping company?

Then I am glad we ditched the thousands of books my husband and me had collected (bar a few we really want to take with us.)
They weighed a tonne when I took them to the charity shop!

Re: Best Shipping company?

Neither are we!
Does anybody get those expenses paid, except inter-company transfers?
But is that so bad a quote? A 20ft container is about 1170 cubic feet. A 40 ft is bout 2390 cubic feet and...

Re: Best Shipping company?

Well, we are sitting ducks.
Or perhaps moving ducks....

Re: Best Shipping company?

What are they like to deal with? What is their reputation?
I really liked the guy at GB Liners - he was helpful and understood my circumstances and returned my call, unlike Crown, who didn't and...

I just got a quote from Fox for sole use 20ft container to Vancouver area (Abbotsford) which came in at just over £4600, with me packing all the small items and personal...

Re: Best Shipping company?

With so little the airfreight option might be best. Also, it will take a lot less time to get there. Sea freight via sole container takes 6 to 10 weeks or thereabouts and it is usually longer if you...
