It was just the company that did the valuation on our car. Automotive Valuation Services of Australia here in Brisbane. Maybe contact them.

I think they value it here and not based on any UK...

They charge you Duty & GST based on the Landed Value in Australia.

Mine was valued at $11 000 (through AVSA) - which was exactly 50% of the cost of buying an equivalent car in Oz.

My Import Approval doesn't state how long it is valid for. Maybe an email to the WA Transport is required.

Basically (at the current exchange rate)

How much would you get for it in the UK = A ($54 000)

Total cost of shipping it over = B ($10 000 roughly)

How much would you buy the equivalent...

Sorry. I didn't provide the info because we're in Brisbane.

We shipped through Cargo Online from the UK. They put us onto New Prestige World here in Brisbane when the car arrived who did...

Our shipping company recommended a contact on this side who took care of everything - the valuation, roadworthy, ADR, import plate, number plates etc...

I just paid money at each stage and then...

No, I haven't imported a Bee Em, but and I think your motive is sound. Buy something decent there in pounds and ship it over, as long as it works out financially. :thumbup:

The Duty Tax is based on the valued price in Oz + GST. So whatever an official evaluer thinks it is worth based on certain factors. I would imagine a brand new bike would attract the hightest duty...

It also has to be right hand drive otherwise it won't pass Australian design rules.

Woo hoo, I received my car today with Sunshine State plates on. :thumbsup:

Total cost to import:

Shipping from UK RoRo = $2816
Oz side Customs + duty = $3692
Compliance, Rego, Ctp = $1904...

Our car is almost in our hands. We'll hopefully get it next week sometime.

It has cost quite a bit to import, but I'll do a cost comparison once I have all the figures.

Excellent! That's good to know. We will ship our car and will probably have to buy another (small) new car when we arrive.

I don't want to have to buy an expensive second hand piece of junk.

"FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES - the lower Duty Rate of 5% (and 10% Gst) is only applicable to...
