Yep, doing a course doesn't guarantee that you can switch status and eventually work...just gives you some time in the country to try to do your course and meanwhile, work hard for someone and...

I worked in St Lucia for 1 year...lived in Soufriere...

I recommend (if you can find a place for sale) checking out Marigot Bay...that would have been my first choice of residence
