Re: UK/US Dual National looking to join US armed forces

The recruiter was "99% sure" that she would have to renounce it. So not 100% sure, and the recruiter may be wrong. But it's a distinct possibility.

There's also the possibility that she'll only...

Question UK/US Dual National looking to join US armed forces

My wife is a dual UK/US national, and we are currently living in the US. She's considering joining the US armed forces, which will almost certainly require that she renounces her UK citizenship.

Re: Moving: UK to USA -> should i take electrical goods?

...but prepare to be disappointed by the high prices, low quality and antique design of the white goods over here. They still sell those top-loader washing machines like your grandma had!

Re: Comparing grocery store prices?

One of the things that totally baffles me in grocery stores here is how people will just stand there doing nothing while the checkout girl/guy puts all the groceries through, then just stand there...

Re: Comparing grocery store prices?

Well, the local Trader Joe's is NOW less crowded - they've just opened a 2nd store only a couple of miles away. It used to be ridiculously rammed!

Re: Mobile Phones

"if one uses home wireless, that will be the "choke point" -- 802.11n is slower than than the slowest DSL".....not so. The slowest speed that 802.11n will operate at is 6.5Mb/sec - twice the speed of...

Re: Comparing grocery store prices?

I think a lot of shops assume you're going to use one of their many coupons, if you have the time to find/remember them.

The big supermarkets here (Vons, Albertsons, Ralphs) are very expensive and...

If you can live without texts or internet on your phone, T-Mobile do a no-contract deal for $60 per month for two lines (ie. $30 each) including tax. Texts are a ludicrous 20ยข each to send or...

Re: Just need to get a few things off my chest

What if it's pronounced "riTARD" like on the movie The Hangover, with the emphasis on the second syllable? That probably makes it absolutely fine. Or something.

It's a word I rarely (if ever) used...
