Re: Why on earth would a Premier leave out the CHO from a key health announcemen

As already mentioned, this is wrong. The Sydney outbreak originated in a limo driver who chose not to get vaccinated and didn't wear a mask - while transporting freight crew, not travellers. Until...

Re: Why on earth would a Premier leave out the CHO from a key health announcemen

"The treatment some Australians have dished out to each other - and particularly to those overseas - has been shameful. We will not look back at this...

Re: Why on earth would a Premier leave out the CHO from a key health announcemen

Yes, they will. My travel agent has just confirmed that Singapore Airlines will be opening SIN-SYD inventory for sale shortly.
Given that the planes were basically flying empty at just 10% capacity...

Re: Why on earth would a Premier leave out the CHO from a key health announcemen

I had a flight booked on 1 October but it was cancelled due to the current flight caps so airlines were severely overbooked and had to offload many passengers. I was unable to rebook as there were no...

Re: Why on earth would a Premier leave out the CHO from a key health announcemen

Excellent news - NSW is leading the way as usual. It's consistent with what the majority of the western world is already doing - quarantine free travel for vaccinated people has been a reality in...

Re: RIP NSW

No need to pity us, thank you. I am quite glad to be living in a progressive state where officials try to make balanced decisions and are well aware that we're living in a connected world, not a...

Re: Has Australia changed during the pandemic?

I could continue to argue with you (as those words from my opening comments have been cited in multiple newspaper articles over the past few months - many written by Australians by the way and...

Re: Has Australia changed during the pandemic?

Discussions where one resorts to personal comments really bore me - because then, it stops being a discussion exchanging different views and arguments.

Your comments "Helping out in a vaccination...

Re: Has Australia changed during the pandemic?

Iceland vs Queensland? Really? Hardly a comparison...
Iceland is a tiny island with a population of merely 400,000 and about 60% of those live in the capital. Very easy to reach those 80%. I would...

Re: Has Australia changed during the pandemic?

Odd points? Elaborate please...
I was working in a Covid vaccination centre for several months and I think my views are completely in line with the current medical evidence and real life data.

Re: Has Australia changed during the pandemic?

Exactly.
QLD and WA keep on boasting about their current lifestyle - yet, their Premiers avoid having the awkward discussion with their population that they are just delaying the inevitable. Even at...

Re: The road to freedom

Devastating news for all those wanting to return - including myself. My flight via Singapore is supposed to land on 2 October - who knows whether it will go ahead now.

But overall, NSW has been...

Re: The road to freedom

Don't think it makes a big difference, the effectiveness of AZ and Pfizer both diminishes over time: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-02261-8

Re: The road to freedom

The Pfizer/Biontech vaccine is already approved for children aged 12 and older in the US and EU. I expect that ATAGI will follow in the foreseeable future and vaccines will be available for 12+ year...

She will be grilled by the Qld tourism industry and other businesses. I wish her good luck (she will need plenty of it) in educating Queenslanders that living a long-term Covid-free life is not...

Re: The road to freedom

80% is an extremely tough goal to achieve - I am not even sure, if it can be done... Even Israel, the US or the UK - all countries who have had extremely successful vaccination campaigns - have not...

Re: Has Australia changed during the pandemic?

Interesting to read the varying degrees of perception. I do think, it comes down to the individual and possibly the state they live in - let's face it, the State Premiers have had a VERY different...

Has Australia changed during the pandemic?

Ok, I probably need to be a bit more specific as the whole world has changed I guess...
So, obviously, no doubt that Australia has handled the pandemic well in terms of overall cases/deaths....

Leaving Sydney for Brisbane?

Hi there,
I have been living in Sydney for almost 3 years now after spending some time back in Europe (lived in Brisbane prior to that).
While I think that Sydney is a great city, the cost of...
