If you've got a returning residents visa.... then you've got no problem getting back to NZ.

The new rules for citizenship is 5 years (it was 3).... I'm not too sure whether it'd be 3 years for you...

Just a quick note about your Australian PR... it is a permanent visa in that it lets you stay in Australia permanently, but if you don't stay in Australia for a minimum of 2? or so years before that...

Hm.. How long does it take after allocation of CO? There are all the medicals and sending in police checks etc right? Sigh. It sounds like there needs to be a fair bit of planning involved...

I see. Hm then would you also qualify for one of the permanent visas (like skilled migrant visas) if you have a highly skilled/professional job? But I think a permanent visa can take a year +??...

But a WHV would only last for 1 year right?
Any other temporary visas other than 457?
How long does it take to apply for a permanent visa? I've heard it's a long and drawn out process...

Can't you just call noise control and complain? Maybe your city council is rather useless - but mostly when noise gets to me i'd just call them and someone would come to quiet them down in 10 or so...

Doesn't make much difference for docs and dentists whether you are on a temporary visa or not.. You probalby have to pay more for medicines though..

Putting money in a Kiwi bank account might be possible - but then you'd have to pay non-resident tax (which is quite a lot) before you manage to organise everything to get to NZ.

There is also the citizenship ceremony and all - which can take a while to organise. And if they know you're ditching the country when you apply for citizenship, they might refuse to give you...
