Thanks for the quick response, it seems better to me than the old way as the waiting after the medical seems to last forever, it should make planning dates far easier for people.

You will still be able to travel to the USA on the visa waiver, you will not need a B2, in fact you are unlikely to be approved for a B2 visa.
