Good luck!! We were in FNQ for 3 and half years, now in Mt Isa (don't ask!!) but looking to move down south to Gold Coast in couple of years, when eldest daughter finishes year 12. :thumbsup:

my guess would be that it's due to the fact that they rely heavily on tourism mate and when folk are broke, they aint going on holiday! Thats always been a prob for cairns any how...Funnily enough,...

Yes mate, although we are now living in Mount Isa!! No work in Cairns at all - we know a LOT of families that moved and businesses that went belly-up. Anyone who says recession didn't hit Australia...

Finding work has been the bane of our lives!! And Jed being made redundant was a real cause for concern.... very unsettling. :unsure:

Have to agree with that comment!! Husband has been a plumber for 20+ years, Corgi reg in UK, contract work for Brit Gas and Armed Forces - glowing references. Still found it hard to land work,...

This is our second attempt at life n Australia. Been here 3 years this time so have given it a fair go. However, plan to return to UK in a few years - just doesn't feel at "home". The End.
