Re: VWP Back to Back

No guarantee, but in my opinion the chances of being admitted on back-to-back VWP visits aren't too bad the first time you do it. This is from personal experience, and that of friends, back in...

British author giving talk in NYC on Friday, all welcome

British author Linda Hoy’s personal experiences have led her to embark upon an investigation into what, if anything, follows death. The author offers evidence for the existence of a soul and an...

Re: Can I use the VWP twice a year?

I had a period where I was doing a similar pattern. Three months in, two weeks out, another six weeks in, two months out, two months in etc.

It was fine at first. Then, one time I was taken to...

Re: Repeated visits to US on the Visa Waiver Program

I wouldn't try this more than once without a lengthy stay out of the US, but it can be done.

I, and a number of my colleagues, have done this. I've not personally heard of anyone being sent back...

Re: Trusted Travelers: Global Entry VIP

OK thanks

I thought a visa stamped duration of status, which basically means you are in the US indefinitely as long as your status does not change, might apply. Obviously not.

Re: My Life As An Undocumented Immigrant

That sounds like something approaching a solution, albeit with flaws. Once news that this was going to be passed was made public, many people would want to get in before the six month deadline, and I...

Re: Trusted Travelers: Global Entry VIP

It says that "Global Entry is open to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, Dutch citizens, and Mexican nationals". But it was not quite clear to me. Does this mean no visa holders, even if they...

Re: NYC affordable on this transfer?

I dunno what it's like in Hell's Kitchen, but at my local supermarket on the Upper East Side a dozen eggs is $1.79 and a quart of orange juice is $2. A quart of milk is $1.19. In the local pub a pint...

Re: NYC affordable on this transfer?

East Harlem varies block by block. I was thinking of the area between 98th and 103rd, near Lex, east of the Metro North line. There are projects further east, but this area is all walk ups, and has...

Re: My Life As An Undocumented Immigrant

He almost certainly won't be deported, as his is not a priority case. But there remains no legal way for him to adjust his status while remaining in the country.

Re: NYC affordable on this transfer?

I am a single guy, earning wages of around what you describe and get by OK, as millions of other New Yorkers do.

I live in a nice apartment in the UES. I don't have a car. I don't have health...

Re: safest way to try and visit US for 6 months without running into problems

I've done two back-to-back 90 day stays (with a week out of the country), and I know plenty of others who have. But you do hear about people being turned back. It's always a risk.

As mentioned...

Re: day Trip IN New York City,

The Met, MOMA and the Gugenheim all have free coatrooms. They accept small bags. You can actually store your stuff in the Met before you pay to go in.

Planning on quittingt my furnished rental apartment, NYC

Although I love NYC, I dunno if I can take another winter here. So in the Autumn I will be looking to pass on my sub-lease. It's a great doorman apartment on the 12th floor of a modern UES high rise,...

If you are working near the center of DC and live 15 mins or less from Baltimore Penn station then it may be worth it. The fast train takes just 30 mins to the centre of DC from Bimo.

You can normally get a burger for 5 or 6 bucks, plus tip. Don't forget to add tips into the equation BTW. And yes, car trouble is always a possibility.

I did a road trip last year. Stayed at...

Re: Living in the US without working

Scathing sarcasm can be quite funny, but not when it's directed at someone who makes occasional grammar or spelling errors. None of us have perfect grammar.

Re: Living in the US without working

Visitors are encouraged. They have money and help the economy.

I wasn't suggesting the OP spends half his time in the US, I'm suggesting he visits as a tourist. Many people are frequent visitors,...

There are plenty of US citizens that live abroad too, retirees in Mexico for...

Re: making your HSBC account international

Unless you are mega rich, there is no advantage for an expat to have a HSBC account. Despite the fact that all their advertising is the first thing you see when when you come into Heathrow.

Some...
