Thank you for your reply. Her health is not bad but she is waiting for a knee replacement, and I guess she is depended on us as we are all she has now. My oh brother moved himself and his family...

Thanks for the quick replies!! I had read the info on the CIC website but my hubby thought you could pay $100000 and get permanent residency:lol: I did try to tell him that if that was the case...

Hi, I wonder if you could all help me. My DH belives he has seen (somewhere) that you can buy permanent residency in Canada!!

Hi

My oh has been offered a job in Calgary, but they have advised that the company shuts down for winter.

I have been told that in order to obtain a TWP, the employer must provide work for 52...

I am concerned that my hubby has been told the shut down is only for 8 weeks when in fact it will be longer. And i'm not sure if he would be able to claim welfare...

Snow plowing is something we had considered. He is a digger driver (heavy equipment operator), and would be more than able to that. It also gives him the excuse to get the truck that he keeps...

Hi

Due to the nature of oh's job, the company close down for approx 8 weeks over the winter. I was just curious if there is anybody else that does this, and if so what do you do over the winter...

Thank you all for the replies. When we first mentioned our desire to live in Canada the MIL said that she would follow us out at a later date! We were aware that we would have to be permanent...

I just don't know if we could live with ourselves and leave her. And when I say she has no one in the UK I mean no one. Her closest friend has moved away and the only other family she has is in Oz!
