Re: Another E-petition gets almost the same negative response

Today we have a response to another 10 Downing Street e-petition (http://www.number10.gov.uk/Page16596) from New Zealand. The nay-sayers will not be surprised to hear its the same old, same old. At...

Re: Another E-petition gets almost the same negative response

For those who found the Pensions Parity UK website (http://www.pension-parity-uk.com) somewhat underwhelming, you may wish to go and check it out again. The Webmaster has made some major styling...

Re: Another E-petition gets almost the same negative response

Sorry, bazzz. I agree with you on presentation. I was in no way involved with that website. However I believe the facts it presents are true.

Re: Another E-petition gets almost the same negative response

Pensions are paid out of the National Insurance Fund, which has a huge surplus, which is used for other purposes than pensions although it was funded by all those pensioners contributions. You can...

Re: Another E-petition gets almost the same negative response

The discrimination against UK pensioners in Commonwealth countries in freezing pensions at retirement age levels is grossly unfair. I live in Langley BC, Canada. If I had chosen to live in...

Another E-petition gets almost the same negative response

Today 10 Downing Street responded to a petition that closed on 11 June 2008 from Roy and Joan Brentnall of Canada (http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Canadian/). It asked the Prime Minister to remove...

Re: Frozen Pensions

Thanks for pointing that out, Gillian. I just assumed that there would be one vote per e-mail address to avoid people adding multiple votes. Of course it's easy for anyone to get many free e-mail...

Re: Frozen Pensions

Way to go, Karen. You're right. If two names are on a single entry, then it only counts as one 'signature' or vote. If both people have e-mail addresses, then they should each vote using their own...

BTW The petition mentioned in this topic (http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Pensionless/) has just topped the 1,000 signature mark, having seen a doubling in numbers within 48 hours. The Canadian...

Re: Yet Another Petition On Frozen UK Pensions For Canadians et al.

You're probably right, Novocastrian. If they had bothered to 'think ahead or do due diligence' then they could have gone to any of the following countries and had exactly the same pension as if they...

Re: Yet Another Petition On Frozen UK Pensions For Canadians et al.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, :) this new petition (http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Pensionless/) is now up to 689 votes. Remarkable progress in just a few hours. Thanks to all who have signed.

Yet Another Petition On Frozen UK Pensions For Canadians et al.

I may risk drawing the ire of those who think this topic is done to death. However I hope they will ignore this thread and apply their energies to other topics. :)

I and many others today...

Well said, BristolUK.

In fact those who choose to retire abroad, perhaps with their grand-children, no longer draw on a number of government support services including healthcare and so...

Re: Partition on Frozen UK Pensions

If you've studied some of the cases, that's exactly what we're talking about, iaink. For many of us it will make little difference. That's not why I got involved. If you look at the total...

Re: Partition on Frozen UK Pensions

@dbd33 In fact it's cheaper for the UK government if we emigrate since we do not use many other services. However anyone outside the old British Commonwealth gets the same pension as they would if...

Re: Partition on Frozen UK Pensions

That may be true, bazzz, but I think we shouldn't get too legalistic about all this. After all, we may have different opinions but it's good to exchange them. Things change as well. I always like...

Re: Partition on Frozen UK Pensions

Unfortunately, dbd33, some of them do all the time. The abject neglect of such people is something the UK cannot be proud of. If you don't want to get involved, that's OK but please just let those...

Re: Partition on Frozen UK Pensions

It's a new one. It's running till June 11 and so far has 86 signatures. You can only have one at any time on a given subject. I didn't start this one but I and others are spreading the word any way...

Re: Petition result for UK State Pensions in Canada

As I mentioned in another thread here, I found the actual response was written rather poorly and didn't make the UK Government's intentions clear. I've rephrased it slightly in a blog post at:...
