I agree although it sounds like a bit of a paper trail when you come back, it seems silly to be paying for registration in two countries, one of which you're not working in:)

I have already spoken to the nmc with regards to that, cause obviously it had crossed my mind, but as long as I have been practicing in Australia, all I have to do is supply references/statements...
