Re: L1B Visa Timescale to Green Card

You might want to find out whether you'll be EB2 or EB3... The chances of getting your green cards through EB3 before your L1B expires look pretty grim.

Re: L1B Visa Timescale to Green Card

Your employer must sponsor you and they must pay the costs themselves. It is not uncommon for an agreement to be made along the lines of giving up bonuses until the costs have been covered. Total...

Re: Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR)

Yes, 10,000 USD limit on the sum of all your foreign accounts including most pensions. It is measured at the point in the year when they were worth most. I usually use the exchange rate at the end of...

Re: Pathway to the USA!

When I did it, the estimate published by the school was about $15,000 per year including enrollment, tuition and living expenses. That was a state school in a small, affordable town. I think that's...

Re: Employer places 'hold' on GC filing

I think you need to consult a good lawyer of your own (not the employers one).

You're right it's for prospective employment but when adjusting status (I-485) I think you have to show you are...

Re: L140 Approved - is that it???

Your confusion is totally understandable.

The client for the I-140 is your employer, not you, so it makes sense that the attorney won't discuss it with you.

You shouldn't have to wait long for...

Re: going back to U.S - maybe

Me too.

We came back a second time even though our life in the UK was very comfortable. We did so because, first time round we had to leave the US against our wishes even though we had intended to...

Re: L140 Approved - is that it???

With premium processing, I-140 approval is taking 1-2 weeks (see trackitt.com)

Why are they thinking of pulling the plug at this stage? Once the I-140 is approved you don't really need any more...

Re: Pathway to the USA!

I did my undergrad degree at Bournemouth, it was 4 years total but that included one year work experience.

After graduating I worked in the UK for a year then came to the US on an F1 visa to do a...

Re: L140 Approved - is that it???

It is normal for the 140 to be approved first, don't worry.

I also filed concurrently and my 485 was approved about 5 weeks after the 140.

That included 2 weeks to respond to an RFE (for the...

Re: Yay!!!

It is common that small companies can't/won't cover green card sponsorship. The usual solution is a verbal agreement regarding future raises and bonuses being deferred until the costs have been...

Re: Yay!!!

Sure it's a lot of money in the abstract, but like everything in life it's all relative. In the context of being able to settle here permanently (if that's what you want) it's not a lot of money and...

Re: Yay!!!

The total costs consist of legal fees paid to your lawyer, costs associated with PERM such as advertising fees, and filing fees paid to various government departments. It is normal that the largest...

Re: My L1 ship has set course for the Atlantic...

EB2/EB3 relates to the job role, not to you directly, but you obviously need to show that you meet the job requirements later in the process.

EB2 = professionals with advanced degrees, so when...

Re: How long before I can apply for GC?

Mine totaled around 10,000 USD, but that was including labor certification which you don't need so maybe around 2 thirds of that. Maybe it is OK for you to pay some of the costs directly because you...

Re: How long before I can apply for GC?

You can begin any time.. you don't even need to be in the US.

Officially, your company must sponsor you and pay all fees. You are not allowed to be involved in the process at least until the labor...

Re: My L1 ship has set course for the Atlantic...

Cost of L visas should be a few thousand USD including filing fees and lawyer fees. I guess it can vary a lot depending on lawyers used. I do not think that the number of L2s should make much...
