We love it, been in Oz 12 years, Sydney for 3 - now Brissy. There are things we miss about England, it's not perfect here, but on the whole it suits us and we are very happy. Keep an open mind.

Unfortunately it is some agents practice to send a Notice to Leave with the lease renewal, so that if you don't sign the new lease they already have a "head start" with moving you on. I don't like...

In Qld you only have to go onto a fixed term lease if the landlord insists - if you explain why you want a periodic most landlords will agree even if they wouldn't normally feel comfortable with that...

In addition to others suggestions I'd say an outside entertining area and a beer fridge! Also make sure everything in the property is sparkling clean - nothing us women hate more than someone elses...
