Re: Happy Valley Goose Bay

Hi,

I realize that Goose Bay has changed over the years, but I thought I would just share my experiences living there as a child. My father, an RCMP officer, was transferred there twice. First,...

Re: Craig, not 'Creg'! So annoying...

Seriously? This bothers you? Have you considered why people say your son's name the way they do? While I was living in Asia (I'm Canadian), I made friends from all over the world. Each of them...

Re: Differences between NS and NB ??

Hi,

I also am quite shocked that this happened to you. I grew up in New Brunswick and this has NEVER happened to me. Occasionally, a French salesperson will speak French to me before I've said...

Re: Teaching Jobs in Alberta?

I take exception to these points. People of my parents' generation sometimes get the impression that my generation is lazy when compared to theirs. I disagree. The reality for a young person today...

Re: Where to buy a house in Moncton, NB

Hi,

I also enjoy the pace of life...'sometimes'. I should change my location, as I no longer live in Hong Kong. I've been back in NB for 8 months now. It's taking a while for me to get...

Re: Teaching Jobs in Alberta?

Hi,

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your experience up North. I know it's easier to get a teaching job there but I've had enough of being 'away' (I taught in a number of Asian countries for...

Re: Where to buy a house in Moncton, NB

Hi,

I grew up in Hillsborough (20 minutes from Moncton) and Riverview (just across the River). I'd have to say I disagree with the Mountain Rd. recommendation. My friends and I all think Mountain...

Re: Teaching Jobs in Alberta?

I would have to disagree about there being 'quite a number' of jobs in Ontario. From my own personal experience, that is not the case. Furthermore, the Ontario College of Teacher's publication,...

Re: School Uniform

Whoa, you're certainly reading a lot into my post! And there's a slightly condescending tone to your reply along the lines of 'now listen here, young whipper-snapper.' Trust me, I'm well aware of...

Re: School Uniform

Because I like to look good. I have found that students (especially middle school students) take me more seriously when I'm 'dressed up'. Oh, and another reason is that I'm 27 and still look...

Re: School Uniform

Hi,

Well, I'm a Canadian teacher (currently teaching in Hong Kong) and my students wear uniforms (We can thank the British for this). And honestly, I don't think it makes my students any more...

Re: Who are these guys?

I know! Canadian radio really does suck. I'm Canadian and have always lamented over this fact. I seem to hear the same songs by the same artists over and over again! And it's been the same for as...

Re: State of Education in the U.K.?

Hi,

I feel for you. Teaching in a public school in Hong Kong has been quite 'soul destroying'. However, I only have just over a month left to go (thank God!). Luckily, it hasn't put me off...

Re: State of Education in the U.K.?

I agree that there are some bad teachers out there, but often it is the school climate which affects the teacher's performance. Take me, for example. I taught at an international school for a year....

Re: State of Education in the U.K.?

Hey,

I just want to point out that I personally don't think all British parents are 'picky' or 'difficult'. Some teachers resent anyone questioning their teaching (I don't)...at least those...

State of Education in the U.K.?

Hi there,

Some recent conversations I've had with fellow teachers has made me curious about the state of education (public) in the U.K. I thought I'd come here to ask (as the majority of you are...

Hi,

I'm a Canadian who stumbled across this site. I hope you don't mind that I'm not British;) Actually, I've been an expat in Asia, off and on, for the past 4.5 years. I'm currently living in...
