Craig, not 'Creg'! So annoying...
Hopefully, it's not just me who is irritated by this mispronunciation. If it is, I'll just have to get a life, I guess ... and yes, there are far more important issues to discuss like Canadian Midwives not having the same professional status as UK ones. It seems there is some bad blood between midwifery and some doctors ... could just be our experience, though. Right now, we're waiting for little Miss to arrive any moment soon. Another Sidlet to add to the growing clan. What do you lot think?

It's a non-issue you can pronounce it any way you like.
If you want it as Creg then have it that way, you'll just have to tell people it's pronounced that way.
Just don't name him something like John Craig and then call him Craig that is a real pain for the child and especially later in life, I'm there doing that.

It's not a "mispronunciation". Its just a different pronunciation. Who is to say which one is correct?

You think the Craig/Creg is bad?
My hubby is called Iain... most people here seem to want to call him either EYE-an or Lain......

It's quite annoying for people called "Greg" too, they become Craig.

Why do people get so angry over things like this?
It is a different pronunciation not mangled, not wrong just different.
No one ever said the UK way of saying things was an absolute.
Chill, there are much more important things in the world to get bent out of shape over.

I think is polite to try to pronounce someone's name the way they would like it pronounced. You just need to tell people how to say your name....
It's not new for immigrants to have to learn that their names are now different.
My mum is still annoyed about the horrible way southerners pronounce our names, and the way they have to shorten everything.
Just think of those with "unpronounceable" names who end up being called Joe Singh or Ramjam becaused people will only think in their terms.
The reverse is true too. I am struggling to pronounce Dorothy the Canadian way, it's now Dawthy. Don and Dawn are homophones, as are Kerry and Carrie and Curry.
