No visa- dual nationality, with long residency in the UK and one and a half years in Australia. Still getting tax affairs in order and surprised Oz tax was so much higher than UK on same income.

Obviously we did not check well enough as I thought there was an offsets as per Australian pensions where the contributions are not taxed at source like some civil service ones in Australia.

Hard to know which is the best- sometimes they have last minute stand-by rates so very close to the time in person is the best. However you may risk not getting a car at all if it is holiday season...

Not sure about comparability- beds can vary a lot in quality and cost in both countries. Probably cheapest new in oz would be about £400. Again what will you sleep on until yours arrives in 2-3...
