There was quite a lot of fuss about it at the time, particularly in the US. The only reason it was mildly successful was because it was so controversial.

I went public and the only thing I had to pay for before my care was transferred to the hospital was my GP appointment and a couple of scans (about $200 a pop). You get a fair chunk of that cost...
