Re: List 3 things which really annoy you....

1) Over-enthusastic (or even mildly enthusiastic) parents
2) Smug mums
3) Rozz Switzer. I don't know how she can smile so hard for so long whilst talking without getting face-ache.

Re: Jackson Jive

I really need to go and do that...

Re: Jackson Jive

I knew there would be a statistic in there somewhere

My own opinion is that 22% of voters finding it racist is 22% too many. If there was even one person on the production team who...

Re: Jackson Jive

So you're basically saying it was celebrating something that we used to do which is now considered racist?? Bizarre!!! Why would you want to celebrate the fact that we used to be so backward.

Re: Jackson Jive

Actually, yes, it's incredibly racist and offensive. Two black guys dressing up as white dumb blonde chicks?!!! As a blonde who isn't dumb (I'm not of a higher intellegence either) I do take...

Re: Jackson Jive

Generally, you wouldn't see a white (or whatever colour if you're going to be picky about it) actor black up to play your everyday regular black guy, would you? You'd hire a black actor for that. ...

Re: Jackson Jive

Just because he has an Indian background doesn't mean he's not a racist. Same as a black person can be racist, and people can be racist towards the Irish or red-haired people. It's the same thing. ...

Re: Jackson Jive

If that's correct then to be fair it's not something that's being widely publicised. So I guess once again it's the media that are encouraging this to be totally blown out of proportion. I'm sure it...

Re: koala in australia

We had one come to play in our garden the other day. Stayed for a good half an hour, running around like a dog - which was pretty amazing really. It let me get really close to it too, although it...

Ha! I did say it was a hassle - took me almost an entire afternoon to set it up but considering how much I used FB I felt it was worth it.

If you're (I'm not saying you in particular, just...

Re: Whose on Facebook (FB) ;)

Yea I started getting paranoid after I had my second child. I realised a lot of the people I had on my list I hadn't spoken to in 10 years and really didn't know all that well. I didn't want to...

Re: Puppies in Tanks - shocked!

Very normal here, pretty much every bigish shopping centre has a Pets Paradise with a window full of pups and kittens. It is a bit heartbreaking when you first get here but you do get used to seeing...

Anyone know if Bunnings cut MDF to size?

I know B&Q used to do this in the UK. Does anyone know if Bunnings offer a similar service? I emailed them some time ago with no response. Many thanks.

Re: How much does it cost to have a baby in Oz?

I think that will depend on what visa she's on. As a permenant resident, the answer is yes although it's no longer paid in bulk but in 13 fortnightly payments and you don't get it until the baby is...

Re: How much does it cost to have a baby in Oz?

I went public and the only thing I had to pay for before my care was transferred to the hospital was my GP appointment and a couple of scans (about $200 a pop). You get a fair chunk of that cost...

Re: ATM dispenses faulty note

Wish I hadn't bothered posting this thread now - just taped it up with scotch tape and you wouldn't even know it was torn - couldn't even tell which side I'd taped it on.

Re: ATM dispenses faulty note

Hehe, we don't frequent any branch. We bank with HSBC who only have one branch in the CBD. We've been there twice in the 12 months we've been here!

I'll give the drinks machine a go first! I'll...

Re: Some Michael Jackson jokes

I heard that he put in his will that he wanted to be melted down and made into a playstation... so that little boys would play with him.

Ahh crap, I didn't see the last line on the first post. ...
