Think I quoted the wrong post. I wasn't refering to Family Benefit, but to the person saying they are contracting so earn more some weeks than others.

It isn't to do with telling or not telling. Employers have tables that they get from ATO. If an employee earns a certain amount that week all the employer does is looks on the table for that...

No, you can't claim home to work travel as deductible (except in very limited circumstances like if you have to transport heavy equipment to work).

Not the whole facts.

If the main purpose of a trip is business any related expenses will be deductible, even if there is an incidental private purpose (e.g. a game of golf while away on business)....
