Apples to oranges. Stupid to compare a simple speeding infraction with a monetary penalty as a maximum to a serious criminal offence, which would involve prison time and large fines.

Suzuki Alto doesn't exist here..would need a different model to figure out cost :p. An example though is a 5-7 year old Porsche Boxster was $60,000 in Aus. Find one here for 17-25k. Get a nicer 911...

I suppose it depends how long you intend on keeping it and how much you ever want to spend on maintenance for it. I've personally never been a fan of new cars and with the Aussie prices, probably...

So, next month when I'm over I'll be looking to purchase a not-so-expensive used vehicle. All of the capitals I've noticed are on the Gumtree network and you can find reasonable prices for vehicles...
