Re: Moving to US - rental property in UK

Re: Getting through Customs/Immigration faster at US airports - MPC App

My old card has an expiration of Jan 2023. I see there is an option to report your old card as lost or stolen to get a replacement. Don't want to do that as my card is neither. But I assumed they...

Re: Getting through Customs/Immigration faster at US airports - MPC App

Finally got my GE renewal processed and accepted. Received the email notification this week. I presume I will receive a new card through the mail? There was no mention of that.

Re: Getting through Customs/Immigration faster at US airports - MPC App

My GE membership expired in Jan 2023. Submitted a renewal in Feb 2023. Still in Pending Review stage. Have no idea how to move this forward. It's coming up to 9 months, which is ridiculous.

Re: New State Pension, Martin Lewis, confused.

I had a quick look at my NI record and I have paid 37 years full contributions, not including the current year. My pension forecast is currently 185.11 GBP and the max is 185.15 GBP (which...

Re: Moving from UK to LA - should we go for it?

Moved to the US in 1994, bay area CA. Never heard of the internet/world wide web at that time. Only means of research was the local book store and library and travel guides. Knew no one in bay...

Re: Best place e to buy British food online?

If you don't mind buying in bulk, this place is really good and shipping is very reasonable;

The Sweet Pot | eBay Shops (http://www.ebaystores.co.uk/thesweetpot)

You can buy crisps by the...

Re: Completed transfer out of my UK Defined Pension Scheme

Actually I think I might have that wrong - I think return flight was mandated by H1B. Makes more sense from the US immigration perspective.

I did initially turn down the green card. But I took...

Yep, still in the bay area. Daughter is doing well. She just got back from the big DC trip over spring break, and had a blast.

Re: UK > California on an E2 - Experience, living, family etc!

This discussion brings back memories of when I made the jump back in 1994. Joined a small consulting "body shop" on an H1B. Had never visited SF or California, had no idea of the cost, climate,...

Re: Considering San Francisco - looking to hear your experience

It is expensive in the bay area, the commutes generally suck (mine is from the Tri-Valley area to San Mateo). But if you are in technology, this is one of the best places to be career wise, at least...
