Re: Capital Gains Tax on sale of UK property

A 200% increase only needs a 66% drop to be undone completely, even less if inflation is taken into account. 25% in last year.

Re: Borrowing in Australia to buy in UK

I saying if you delay long enough there won't be any profit in the house. With no let up in the 25% annualised price falls, she'll have to pay you to get herself out.

Re: Borrowing in Australia to buy in UK

Why not stall the process for as long as you can? In 12 months you will owe her nothing.

Re: House price trends in Western Australia

Perth prices have increased 100% in 4 years!! House prices are determined by a herd mentality, nothing else. As soon as panic sets in they are coming down fella.

Re: House price trends in Western Australia

Is that wishful thinking?

House prices have never gently softened after a massive boom. There is always a crash. History can teach us a lot.

Re: I.T. Market

What's the point in getting an IT degree, MCSD qualified & constantly having to keep your skills up to date? I would rather clean toilets than work as a .net developer for $25 / hour.

Don't...

Re: For those renovators or building a home

Pretty much same risks in the UK except there aren't any professional bodies for builders. Anyone can become a 'Master Builder' and NHBC is not worth the paper it's written on.

Re: Private Medical Insurance, worth having?

Your experience is clearly a pointer towards having private medical insurance. But then what level of cover is appropriate? For your case I presume even basic cover would have got you the treatment?...

Re: Private Medical Insurance, worth having?

The gonads are tolerable if massaged regularly. I am presuming for emergency treatment there is no queueing so I am still struggling to work out if it is worth having private medical insurance.

Private Medical Insurance, worth having?

Is it really worth having private medical insurance? These are my observations:-

If you don't apply within 3 months of arrival the private medical insurance will put you on a waiting list for any...

Re: High Court rules Australia must take asylum seekers

The problem I have with those who are unable/unwilling to differentiate aslyum seekers from economic migrants is that they are ultimately harming the opportunities for geniune asylum seekers. There...

Re: High Court rules Australia must take asylum seekers

The whole point is that is they had temporary visas or PR visas they can work legally, get employment benefits and pay taxes. The cockle pickers would have been in this category so not need to work...

Re: High Court rules Australia must take asylum seekers

Most of this is entirely true. The issue is that these people should be here on temporary worker or PR visas not classed as asylum seekers with the benefits that status brings. But they cannot get in...

Re: High Court rules Australia must take asylum seekers

You are still doing it.

It is very difficult to have a reasonable debate on this matter as anyone who doesn't adopt an open door policy is shouted down or called a tinpot Nazi/Daily Mail reader,...

Re: High Court rules Australia must take asylum seekers

Why not cut out the bitterness?

I am completely neutral in the asylum debate. Just trying to destroy a few romantic myths that all are freeing tyranny. It is largely a vehicle for economic...

The majority of people who enter a country under the asylum seeker banner do so because they are in reality economic migrants and western countries make it almost impossible for them to...

Re: New Career (Plasterer)

Re: Estate Agents in Australia

No they don't. They don't return phone calls either. They have pretty much complete contempt for the people who pay their wages.
