I guess it depends on the contract. It happened whatever your views, or they were making it all up, which I doubt, knowing the individual. What you are quoting is federal, not municipal.

There is. if a worker had symptoms, were required to self isolate, or got sick and they filed a claim, they got paid. If they did not meet these criteria and/or did not file a claim, they would not...

I knew an govt employee in Canada, when he came up to retirement, he worked one week in January then retired, so he got paid his 8 weeks vacation for that year and all of his 'banked' sick time.

There were plenty of incentives for people with Covid symptoms to stay home and get paid. EI changed the rules so there was no waiting period, workers could get paid for days off due to Covid,...

I would be talking to an accountant, not an immigration consultant on taxation. Expenses to bring in an employee are a deductible expense for the employer, so long as they don't try and recover it....

In the UK NI contributions are not tax deductible and the same applies in Canada. Any verbal information from a CRA agent is best followed up by a request for a 'written determination'. At the least...

A carpenter is not a regulated trade in Canada. Licensing is only compulsory in Quebec, voluntary in all other provinces and territories. Cabinetmaker is voluntary licensing across Canada....
