I left the UK sometime ago and as a self employed person over there, all I did was pay what tax I owed and let them know I was immigrating.
That was it. As for here, I still work as self employed...

When we left the UK, we just made sure everything was up to date (especially with any tax owed) kept one years records/statements and burnt all the rest.

As durham lad said most appliances will work, it's appliances like record turntables, analog clocks and any circuit timing devices that could be affected.

I had an HSBC account in the UK and when I landed in Canada I went straight to the HSBC bank here explaining I had an account with HSBC in the UK
and opened my bank account the same day....
