Well I had my appointement at the questura do get my fingers dusted... they informed me there is still no process in place for receiving the card so how long it will take is anybody's guess :D

Other option is to get someone with a NIF to call for you to make the appointment. Wot I did, nae bother ;)

I've got Portuguese mates asking me to bring them back a SIM card from UK as apparently they work out better value since roaming charges were cut, while also receiving less marketing spam ;)

In the long-term I would think you would be more at risk by not boarding your flight and staying in UK. Just don a mask and don't forget to turn off those air-vents above the seat ;)

FWIW...

Arrived in PT beginning March and got my NIF in Lisbon after making appointment with Financas, took 20 minutes and required proof of UK address. Went to Loja do Cidadรฃo de Cascais the next...
