Re: French values

It certainly makes sense to me.
If you talk to people at all you must have noticed that there’s enormous frustration over what is seen as pandering to religious maniacs. And how does that...

Re: Any Scottish sites for exchanging private properties

The very thought of the paperwork that would be involved here in France is enough to give me palpitations.

Re: Moving Back to UK From Germany

If your sole motive for moving back is to avoid high taxation, I would think carefully.
You might find that any potential savings are wiped out by the need for private medical treatment / insurance...

Surely there must be thousands of people resident in the US, Asia, etc who have kept their UK bank...

Re: Health insurance

You’re dead right about the importance of having an insurance company with a high street office. Our car insurance is with the Crédit Mutuel and we have to do everything by telephone. I must change...

Re: Thinking about buying a holiday caravan in the UK to help my homesickness

Well, I think it’s an excellent idea.

Re: Thinking about buying a holiday caravan in the UK to help my homesickness

Sounds like a good idea to me.
Any ideas about where on the South coast you would choose?

Re: Nowhereland

Jensmate

I’ve been looking back at some of your old posts written when you first moved to Folkestone. You were brimming with optimism and seemed to find plenty to like in the town.

Can I ask...

Re: Cost of Living South West England

Fabulous post, thanks.
Funnily, we too had been pondering south of Exeter. Specifically Exmouth.

Re: Cost of Living South West England

Am toying with the idea of the south west myself so this is great. Very comprehensive. Thanks!

Re: New arrival

That’s a very inspiring story. Sounds like you have a really good attitude.
Do I understand that your wife is French? If so, that makes things MUCH easier.

Re: Should I go back to the UK

Yes, fair point. I think you’re right.
I do also think. though, that in people’s responses to the OP there’s been an ever so slightly condescending assumption that she needs to be treated with kid...

Re: Should I go back to the UK

Here’s an interesting exercise. Imagine the OP was a man. The post would then read as follows:

“Me & my wife are a British couple that came to NZ for a bit of an adventure after our wedding...

Re: Isle of Bute

Sure, why not?
Anyway I wouldn’t be looking for work.

There must be something you like about it. The ST was waxing lyrical.
