Default Thinking about buying a holiday caravan in the UK to help my homesickness

Hiya,
I haven't been on here a while. I'm not sure where to post this though? I've been struggling a lot with my new country since we arrived 2 years ago. And this year my homesickness has gotten worse because I feel trapped and can't see friends because of... you know. Seeing my husband with his friends makes it worse. I still haven't picked up enough of the language to fully immerse myself. I also can't drive and we live in a really rural setting (which I love) but I miss my independence. My trips to the UK though would be enough to keep me 'topped up' as I'd get to do my own things and socialise.
I was wondering about the possibility of buying a caravan on the south coast and think it might be a great idea to allow me to visit with more flexibility. We can just about afford it plus you can have the option of renting it out to pay the fees. I'd rather try everything I can to make my life happier than throw in the towel and go back for good. I also don't think my husband wants to go back. It's a tough culture for me, I'm used to living in London with more open minded attitudes and less judgement. I don't think it's that relevant to mention where I am as I don't want to get into heated discussions about culture and stereotypes.
I'm wondering is it possible to be resident in two countries? I'm in Europe so it's not much distance to travel back and forth and I'm self employed with my work being mainly UK clients so it makes sense to have a base there. I hate having to ask friends to put me up every time I go back and most have got young children now. Plus the cost in London to stay somewhere is too high. At least if I'm on the coast I won't be spending so much money by being in London the whole time plus I could cook my own food. I'd love to hear from anyone who's done this and could offer some advice or just give me some encouragement. The longer I stay here without a visit 'home' the more things I find I dislike. I'm thinking maybe I could have the best bits of living in both countries? Not sure after Brexit though what the impact would be.
I was also thinking we could go back for half the year together but it's not practical as we have pets and it'd be a waste in rent. Any ideas most welcome! Just thinking about having a bolt hole there lifted my mood this week. Maybe that's all I need?

Sounds like a good idea to me.
Any ideas about where on the South coast you would choose?

Probably near Hastings as it's got links to Gatwick and London, plus it's got an arty vibe which would suit me. I was thinking Whitstable but it's out of my price range. I'd love to do a trial trip to try it out but can't get back now as Autumn flights have just been cancelled

Well, I think it’s an excellent idea.
I’m in France and if I didn’t have all my British/American/Irish friends around me (acquired through my job) I’d go nuts.
Best of luck!

Ah thank you Yeah it's hard enough to live here without knowing people. Plus it's not easy to make friends here either, the locals are suspicious of new people.
