Default Budget to move back from Australia.

Hi all,
We're in the early stages of planning a move back. This might co-inside with semi-retirement. Timeframe is about 12 months away, hopefully travel will be possible by then.

So, I'm doing a budget to look at what kind of house, cars etc we can expect to buy.

One item I need help with is the actual move budget.

So far I have a rough idea of flight cost for us two and the dog (about 12k GBP for business). But no idea of transport cost for our belongings, when we came over we had a container but now a lot of our furniture suits the larger style of Australian homes, I might not bother and just buy again new in the UK? Has anyone had experience of shipping stuff back?

If you don’t plan on shipping a lot of things then have a look at Movecube. They come in three sizes and the largest actually fits a fair bit. They will give you a quote same day.

Hi, When we moved back I either sold it gave away certain items or beds, dinning table two settees and also a lot of kitchen ware....we did this as we were not sure if we would need so much furniture I'm the UK and also knowing we would need beds and kitchen items asap upon our arrival, I think we filled a half container and maybe knowing now back then I would not of brought a lot of the items we did. Certain Items here in the UK are generally cheaper than Australia (especially WA) because more choice and competition. I suppose it all depends on your budget and circumstances. Do you know where in the UK your thinking if moving? Good luck with everything hope all 'pans' out as you'd like.
