Re: Reclaim British car licence

Thanks Alan. That is good to hear. If we ever move back to the UK. I would not want to take another driving test. :)

Re: Reclaim British car licence

I have a similar question. I still have my Paper UK Drivers License from 32 years ago when we emigrated to pastures that at that time were greener. It is still Valid as it only needs renewal after I...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Me thinks, it may just end up like Y2K. A lot of bluster and not a lot of substance. Life goes on, the Pound may drop a little, some business' may leave, but in general it will be a big YAWN!.......

Re: Credit history?

How did you re-establish credit in the UK? I assume you could still use your US Credit cards for some expenses.

Re: Looking for advice about my wifes visa

OP, not related to your plight, but why do you want to leave Mexico, where did you live that was so bad? We enjoy all our Trips to Mexico and the people are all so friendly.

Re: Thinking of moving back to the UK...but still not super sure...

How have folks dealt with Car Insurance upon returning to the UK? I reads somewhere that it was hard to transfer one's no claims bonus from one country to another. We have over 30 years of driving in...

Re: Thinking of moving back to the UK...but still not super sure...

Yes, Alan, I saw the photos you posted, your location looks very nice. From what I remember, an added benefit for you is Family access. We do not have such a requirement as all our family is now...

Re: Thinking of moving back to the UK...but still not super sure...

Oh, another BIG pull to the UK is the great rail system that services pretty much the whole of the UK, and access to Europe via the Tunnel. That makes up for a lot of weather gripes.

Re: Thinking of moving back to the UK...but still not super sure...

Yes, I know. I am a "Sussex Kid" as my dad used to call me when I was young. The Bognor Regis area comes to mind.

Re: Thinking of moving back to the UK...but still not super sure...

I am on Medicare, DW is not, but she is not a UK Citizen either. I do agree with you. Weather is the biggie for both of us, HC is second. The big decision at the moment is swapping the beach for the...

Re: Thinking of moving back to the UK...but still not super sure...

Yes thanks I do get your point, but we would prefer a nicer home base on the edge of or in a nice village, then we can access the sunnier winter climes to the south at will. One of the draws to the...

Re: Thinking of moving back to the UK...but still not super sure...

Ah OK, I get your point. I have lived in the UK for 29 years prior to moving, so I am familiar with it. Albeit Outer West London by LHR. Unfortunately we are too old to think about owning 2 homes....

Re: Thinking of moving back to the UK...but still not super sure...

Not sure why we would be miserable, we never have been before and have lived in some very cold and rainy places, we simply choose not to anymore. Admittedly they were some extremes, we are trying to...

Re: Thinking of moving back to the UK...but still not super sure...

Not the answer I was expecting from you Alan, you did not get the point. I was not complaining. I am concerned is all that it will be hard to get used to such a sharp contrast and was looking for...

Re: Thinking of moving back to the UK...but still not super sure...

For us the main issue with the UK would be the weather as stated earlier. We are so used to the Florida weather and all the sunshine, being walking distance to the beach helps too. All services and...

Re: Thinking of moving back to the UK...but still not super sure...

My only concern would be the crappy UK Weather. We are not far from you in NE FLA.

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Where is the weather mildest in the UK? Or is good weather in the same sentence as the UK an oxymoron? That is our kicker, we currently live in Florida (15 years) and before that SoCAL (14 years). So...

Re: Spousal Visa Application Service?

Thanks again we easily qualify from dividends from our nest egg, we do roll 50% of it back into before tax funds (US IRA) so half is taxable and classified as income, but still above the requirement....

Re: Spousal Visa Application Service?

Thanks, as mentioned as we are both fully retired, we do not have an income as such, just a nest egg that does have some investment return. I though one could also do it on capital alone.

Spousal Visa Application Service?

I am a UK Citizen with a Canadian wife. We more than qualify financially, actually more than 50 x the requirement. We have no working income as we are retired. But do have income from investment...

Re: Moving "Back" To the UK with Canadian Born Spouse (Spousal Visa?)

Thanks again, but this is exactly what we want to avoid. What we would like to do, is sell up in the USA completely. Go to the UK, rent a place for a few months while searching for a home, then...

Hi all: Here is a little Background. I was born in the UK, I have a UK Passport and a UK State pension is available for me but I am not claiming it yet. I am 65 and my Canadian Born Wife is 60. We...
