Credit history?
Hello all,
I am from the UK and have lived in South Africa for ten years and am relocating back to the UK in a few months.
I will need to initially rent a property there - does anyone know if my previous credit history still remains? I obviously have one here in South Africa but was informed that doesn't move with me?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Credit history?
I doubt it, but maybe someone else can say otherwise. We returned after 29 years away and definitely no credit history but were able to rent a place by showing proof of income and paying the first 6 months rent up front.

How did you re-establish credit in the UK? I assume you could still use your US Credit cards for some expenses.

Re: Credit history?
our US credit card has no foreign transaction fees so no problem there. With a rental place you still have to pay council taxes, utility bills etc. after 6 months I was able to get UK credit cards etc.
