Re: Major Green Card changes proposed.

So as usual, big announcement way wider than they intend, most likely not fully compliant with current legislation. Then when people look into the detail, scoped down to the original intent (i.e....

Re: No more class II NICs for those living abroad

Nope I got nothing, but I think the HMRC may have my old address. I've told them the new one, but I never got anything from them in the US (but the direct debit comes out fine). I'm still paying...

Re: USA Driving Licence

Canadians get B2 status without a visa, so each trip is up to 180 days. They can enter as many times as they want, but the CBP can reduce their length of stay or deny entry if they're not legitimate...

Re: Transferring from Canadian office directly to Green Card via EB2/3

Congrats - I started my EB-3 Journey around Sept 2021 and was approved in May 2024 - but I was already here on L1. Unfortunate with various delays with PERM and Visa Bulletin - but all behind us now....

Re: Renouncing US citizenship

I remember reading somewhere that over COVID there was a huge backlogs of requests to renounce, not sure if that is still true or not.

Personally, I'd be worried about future COVID like situations...

Re: ETA - Dual citizens must have valid UK passport

British Airways is the worst for this kind of thing. Years ago when I was on an L1 visa they couldn't comprehend someone who lived in the US (residence) who wasn't a USC or LPR. No checkin online and...

Re: Offer of a move UK to US

One of the senior managers at work does 3 days a week in FiDi, Manhattan from Wilton (driving the whole way!) - I always think that's a horrendous commute. They've done it even before COVID when we...

Re: Any families split time "transatlanticly"?

How are you sorting the visas? You can't work remotely on a ESTA/VWP and nor can you maintain LPR status long term with 9 months+ per year out of the US.

Edit: wrong way around - I guess this...

Re: ETA - Dual citizens must have valid UK passport

It's send them all OR send colour photocopies of all pages. Your kids didn't enter the US with a Passport, they entered from the womb.

Re: Offer of a move UK to US

CT is much more expensive than Scotland, so I'd say that $110k (I guess £85k?) to $180k is low. I'd be looking for around $200k+ at least considering the disruption and also spouse may not be able...

Re: ETA - Dual citizens must have valid UK passport

You're not only a Citizen of the USA though, the US can't revoke your foreign citizenships for you. Only if you formally renounce your UK Citizenship with the Home Office are you no longer a UK...

Re: ETA - Dual citizens must have valid UK passport

Precheck isn't tied to any ID or document, just the booking and then the boarding pass. Sometimes I find it disappears off the Boarding Pass but that is not to do with the ETA thing or the Passport...

Re: ETA - Dual citizens must have valid UK passport

If for whatever reason you really don't want to get a British Passport - just break your flight in Ireland.

Re: ETA - Dual citizens must have valid UK passport

Assuming your Granddaughter is a British Citizen (not a given just because her Mum is) - yes she needs a British Passport.

Re: Moving Back to US - Would you do it now?

Could be a last chance if you LPR status is about to expire? Who knows if you'd ever get a visa to US again.

Very job dependent I'd say.

Re: ETA - Dual citizens must have valid UK passport

Land borders are different, so you're comparing apples and oranges. The UK is an island, so unless you're coming via Ireland (no Passport required), or a Ferry/Channel Tunnel with juxtaposed controls...

Re: Renew UK Passport Payment Options/Shipping

I don't think HMPO cares who pays for the Passport application - so I can't see any issues there.

I used UPS to ship my old passport back to Hemel Hempstead last January, it got there in 48 hours...
