He is also going to have to provide these documents just to get you to the USA, and before the AOS paperwork is filed. You will have to be approved to leave your country with a visa to be with him....

they will require a marriage certificate with your wifes new married name on it.

each case is different and unexpected things can arise that could cause either way to not be as fast as you would like. It was the original intention that non-immigrant visas could bring a loved one...

I have always gotten great customer service at this same number. Perhaps you would get better service if you had a better attitude when you called in.

You should file AOS before your fiance is out-of status and this would be before her/his visa expires, usually six months.
