I have followed this forum for 10 years now and found it of huge help when my wife was going through all the formalities leading up to Indefinite Leave to Remain, which she acquired five years ago.

My wife (who has ILR) set up her eVisa a few months ago, and she noted on the official website that the government advice is to keep the BRP after expiry. No mention was made of having to return it.

When my wife applied for her spouse visa in 2016, we had nothing whatsoever in joint names and there was no problem. We did of course provide supporting evidence of marriage etc.

I'm sure forum experts will confirm this, but as far as I am aware there is no problem at all. My wife used downloaded bank statements for ILR (she applied in 2021).

Do you not use Internet banking? We are with HSBC and RBS and in each case you can save/print statements from the website or even the phone app.

My wife and I were in exactly this position, and she used £34,600 savings for her ILR application and nothing else. You do not need both.

That scares me, but nothing we can do. This is useless speculation now, but it could have maybe been wiser to issue ILR BRPs with no expiry date, just to cover any delays or teething problems, rather...
