Re: Temporary Car Insurance in UK with Canadian License

Re: Temporary Car Insurance in UK with Canadian License

We switched my Dad's insurance to Churchill, who will cover for 90 days in a policy year. The 90 days doesn't need to be consecutive, so you can cover multiple trips back to the UK within that year....

Re: Temporary Car Insurance in UK with Canadian License

Has anyone been to the UK recently and found an insurance company that will accept their Canadian licence?

I was last in the UK in December and was able to be added to my parents’ car insurance...

Re: Has anyone moved from NS to another province? can't decide

We last posted here in January when we had just agreed to leave NS for the Calgary area. With the Covid related property market being as crazy as it was, we sold up in NS fast and were in Alberta by...

New UK Travel Rules

This morning's announcement in the UK regarding the quarantine requirements for amber list countries (for those fully vaccinated/children) looks like a big step towards getting UK family over to...

Re: Has anyone moved from NS to another province? can't decide

Hey there,
We arrived in NS two years ago yesterday and whilst NS, like anywhere, has its positives, it isn't for us. We took the decision at Christmas to move west, as had been the plan when we...

Re: What we driving in canada ? Any good deals (post covid)

We arrived in Canada in January 2019 and quickly bought a Jeep Compass 2.4. Quite a fun little car and my wife liked the size.
We then purchased a Volvo XC60 3.2 as my car. This is great and has...

Re: It's Income Tax time again

We are due to file for the first time this year and have no experience with the various software products offered. We have UK property income/costs but otherwise nothing unusual.

I see you you...

Re: PR for a child born outside of Canada

We moved to Nova Scotia in January accompanied by a child without PR status due to being born in Germany after the rest of the family got their PR.

As you suggest you can only apply for the...

Re: Car Insurance NOVA SCOTIA 2019

Glad you got a good deal with Sonnet - our house insurance would be $2600 per year with them compared to $1500 with The Co-operators in Dartmouth for the same level of coverage. Just shows it pays to...

Re: Car Insurance NOVA SCOTIA 2019

We arrived in January and used Allstate who transferred both our UK and German no claims history. We insured two cars and a motorbike for $2100.

Let me know if you want the details of our...

Re: Struggling to get a job

In addition to the location issue (which agreed is the primary problem), what PM training do you have?

Many good PM roles in Canada seem to want PMP or see it as highly desirable. In my...

Re: Migrated to Nova Scotia from the UK? Please share your experience

We moved to Nova Scotia in January this year with children aged 4 and 1. We used this forum for about 3 years prior to our move (mainly for immigration advice which was very helpful) and I would say...

Re: 1st Landing and layover

We recently did this at Toronto - it took over 2 hours for immigration and then we had to do goods to follow. Took about 3 hours in total. I would be shocked if you could do it all in 1.5 hours...

Re: Buying a Car 'Out of Province'

Check out auto trader.ca for car pricing. Used vehicles seem to be a bit more expensive than the UK, especially larger vehicles Whereas large engine used vehicles are not popular in the UK and are...

Re: Buying a Car 'Out of Province'

Thanks for all of the helpful points. We arrived 2 weeks ago and agreed with the advice that buying a cheap local car to get us going was the way forward. We ended up with a 2014 Jeep Compass 4x4...

Re: Initial Insurance

We didn't need any coverage as in NS you get immediate coverage as a PR. Our daughter was born since we did our soft landing so she isn't covered until we sponsor her, hence the need for insurance...

Re: Which health insurance?

The private insurance is cheaper while you are young but it is very difficult to move back to state insurance later. If she is planning to stay long term she may be better staying with the state ones...
