Wa tching this like a hawk - annoyingly Transfer wise is only offering me 1.72 - presumably their algorithms have noticed the quick shift.

Anyone know why it has shifted about 6 percent in 24 hours? Oil price worries?

Nothing to do with a strong Pound - GBP is in the toilet against the Euro and US Dollar. It is the CAD Dollar that is tanking! Something to do with 'when the US catches a cold, Canada gets pneumonia!'.

So given the recent political developments on Brexit with the Speaker seemingly making hard exit a lesser possibility, and the EU not willing to give any more concessions to May, what is your new outlook on the Great British £. Lately it has been trending positively and according to some news traders are shorting the currency as they see potential gains coming down the line.

I'm watching this with a keen eye as well. Need to transfer my GBP savings over prior to my move. GBP could crash after the 29th March... eeek

Boris bounce is fading fast. $1.77 seen on Friday 13th December is already down to $1.73 today. Best hope for 2020 is consolidation around $1.70 with a move up to $1.91 if a trade deal can be struck with the EU by December next year.. Looking for Sterling to trade between $1.66-$1.91 over he next 12 months.
