Re: A Little Advice Part II

Re: A Little Advice Part II

Yeah... not looking forward to that part! We’re in North Georgia, about 45mins outside of Atlanta. It’s a fiasco as I can’t even apply for my Georgia license until I get my EAD because without that...

Re: A Little Advice Part II

We’re going to contact them again today, we’ve had nothing at all in response thus far.

There’s now a new message appearing on the USCIS website referring to EAD applications over 75 days old,...

Re: A Little Advice Part II

No, we've heard nothing back from her but that's not overly surprising given the time of year. I was actually approached about a VERY good position prior to Christmas but I didn't take it any further...

Re: A Little Advice Part II

Well, here we are in January and I still don't have a temporary work permit, a travel document or an interview date for AOS, all of which I received I-797 docs for back in July/August. I'm told USCIS...

Re: So homesick

I started to hit a bit of a rut recently and I've been here 5 months now. Like many others, I sold everything in the UK and went 'all in' to move here; back home I had a great life with a really good...

Re: A Little Advice Part II

I'm confused about the I-131... Do I send this regardless of the fact I've no plans to leave the US at the moment; is this form completed so that if I need to leave (for a family emergency, for...

Re: A Little Advice Please...

Thanks Ian, I'll get straight on to that in the morning and send them off with the receipt for my I-485. My heart sank when I saw Rete's reply, so you've just made my night a lot easier even though...

Re: A Little Advice Please...

Thank you!

There was an answer from Ian to my question which was very helpful but hasn't appeared on 'Part II' if you could have a look at that, please?

Re: A Little Advice Please...

Ian, thank you! I'll do that immediately, I take it a copy of the receipt for my AOS will do the trick?

Bad news on the SSN, though... I've dropped the ball there for sure.

Re: A Little Advice Please...

If it makes it easier for others then no problem having this as a separate thread; I only tacked it onto the existing one as it's one journey for me personally...

Re: A Little Advice Please...

Well it certainly sounds like I've screwed up as I didn't apply for EAD/AP... I take it I can't do that retrospectively? I came in on a K1, yes, but that has now expired so does that mean I can't...

A Little Advice Part II

Hi all,

Well, I've been here in Georgia now since the end of April and I have to say I'm very much settled in and happy with my decision! We got married on 10 June on a beautiful day in Savannah,...

Thank you, I understand it's not going to be easy if we ever did decide to move back but we're not going to rule anything out. That said at the moment, the very idea of going through all of this...

You are absolutely right, KK85! We have all been given the opportunity of a lifetime - whatever our reasons for moving - and I'm not going to let the negatives spoil what should be an amazing time in...

Re: Second thoughts.

I'm just starting to hit my 'wobble'... I fly out on 29 April and the magnitude of what I'm doing has hit me all at once. I've spent the last 18 months or so building up to this point and I guess...

Re: Shipping my effects to USA on a K-1 Visa

Hi Whitbian,

I am currently having exactly the same problem... It does appear to be a grey area whereby the shipping companies want proof of residence before despatch, although one told me that by...

Grapes' questions on shipping (K-1 visa)

Right then, my flights are all sorted; Manchester-Dublin, Dublin-Boston, Boston-Atlanta. Given myself 4.5hrs in Boston to get everything done and booked the flights separately, which ended up costing...
