Re: Final Post

A few of you have successfully proven my point - it didn't take long for this thread to aquire a little moderate debate regarding 'how bad things are in the UK'.

Anyway - thanks for all the...

Re: Pros & Cons of moving to Canada

Nope - I just consume ~6 cans of Germany's best brew per week!

I've not spent too much thought on how to parent my daughter when she gets into her teen years, but I'll probably give alot of the...

Re: Canadian Stress

Each to their own - you've found the ideal place for your family in Calgary.

Me? I have had more stress in 3 years living in Calgary than my entire life outside! I'm not quite sure what I'm...

Re: Pros & Cons of moving to Canada

Perhaps that helps explain why so many houses catch fire / blow-up in Calgary. I've always been surprised by the vast number of house fires reported on the news, it's almost a daily event!

Re: olympics

The commercial breaks are doing my head in. In one hour, I watched 3 or 4 one minute swimming races - the rest was adverts or sob stories. I'm not going to even bother watching any more Olympics...

England v Ukraine Friendly

Seems that this match will not be shown in Canada. I've look everywhere, but no joy - sometimes they stick the England games on Pay per view, but apparently not this time.

Somebody tell me I'm...

Re: Pros & Cons of moving to Canada

I use Pataks Vindaloo sauce, dice some potatoes, throw in some chicken and add some finely chopped onion. Not the real thing, but it's fairly hot and tastes very nice!

Re: Pros & Cons of moving to Canada

These problems are specific to certain areas. Not all of Canada is the same. The area I live has major problems, as do several other neighbourhoods in Calgary - but the majority are sound and...

Re: Pros & Cons of moving to Canada

My list of Pros and Cons for Calgary (in no particular order) - I'll add to it if I think of anything else.

Pros
- Mountains within reach
- Houses are accessible (albeit rising; see below)
-...

Re: How does Canadian Schooling compare to British?

Re: Ideal family location?

Each city has good and bad areas.

Like Glaswegian said - he lives in a safe, family-friendly part of Calgary.

I currently live in a rotten part of Calgary which I consider far worse than...

Re: Driving a car in England

My Canadian wife had no problems driving in England, and she is blonde.

Drivers are nutters in Canada, so he'll probably enjoy driving in UK. He'll need to be assertive, but have respect for...

Re: FLights

No. Price difference is scheduled vs charter.

You'd expect a charter to be worse, but Thomas Cook actually offer a far better product than Air Canada, IMO. Air Canada is a shadow of it's past...

Re: How long?

If my wife had her way, we'd probably be back in England right now! Believe it or not, it's my optimism responsible for keeping us in Calgary.

My feelings are quite like a rollercoaster right...

Okay folks we had our community meeting last night - some of you Calgarians may have seen it on A-Channel news.

I now see Calgarians - especially us Bridgelanders in a whole new light. I will eat...

Re: How long?

Glaswegian,

There's not much I disagree with you on this board, but you got my hackles up three times on this post ;)

$5.90/hr in a shop? You couldn't live in a cardboard box for that...
