Re: American seeks asylum in Canada

That doesn't sound equal at all. Unless your idea of balance involves the US reaping all the benefits while Canada absorbs all the downside. Canadians whose priority is to get that $10K bump their...

Re: American seeks asylum in Canada

Re: Might have cold feet....

I would agree with the "you'll regret not giving it a try" sentiment if this were their first time contemplating a move abroad.

But they've already lived and worked in Vancouver, they've ticked...

Re: Moving to Mississauga

It's a lower-density suburb unlike anything you will find in the UK. You will likely need to drive a lot.

Is that something that might appeal to you or would it be too different from home?

Re: Renting in France - possible Sticky?

Re: Renting in France - possible Sticky?

I've seen apartments advertised on pap.fr as small as 14 square metres in size. Presumably these advertised apartments were legal. Would hate to see how small an ILLEGALLY small apartment would be....

Re: Renting in France - possible Sticky?

Yes, when I moved to France I expected everything to be orders of magnitude more complicated but the process to rent an apartment was particularly anxiety-inducing.

What you said is generally true...

Re: Finding a job before I land in Canada

Wouldn't hurt to connect with some Toronto-based recruiters on LinkedIn and set up interviews with them (if not with the hiring organizations themselves). Very very rare to be hired by a Canadian org...

Re: Sacrifices you made when emigrating?.. Difficult choices...

Indeed, there are fewer low-cost diploma mills in Canada than there are in the US, but you can certainly find them. You might want to verify that employers will take them seriously, however. Often...
