Re: Rodi's thread about the haze issue.

Having lived in the US most of my life and Canada for six years I'm not surprised at all. The mindset is that nothing outside the US really matters and the attention span is shorter than anywhere....

Re: Rodi's thread about the haze issue.

Well spoken and I agree but as has been pointed out, we are visitors and it's not our place to write the media. The western world is the one demanding the products produced by the slash and burn so...

Re: Rodi's thread about the haze issue.

Yes, I agree there's absolutely nothing expats can do about this so I'm probably just venting frustration at what is turning out to be the worst decision I've ever made in my 50 years. In my defense...

Re: Rodi's thread about the haze issue.

You obviously spent your vacation in an oil refinery because looking and smelling outside today (again) no sane human being would voluntarily trade the USA for the Surreal apocalyptic stench that is...

Re: Rodi's thread about the haze issue.

Yes I agree. But there's no sense in rehashing what we know. They don't want help because they don't really care. Slash and burn generates billions for the elite few that run their economy and 80...

Re: Rodi's thread about the haze issue.

Not sure who this response is aimed at. It's not my country so I don't have any personal stake one way or the other.

Re: Rodi's thread about the haze issue.

Way too late for help. Haze is permanent or at least a 6 out of 12 month occurrence as readings remain from 300 to 800 in the Indoensian hot spot areas. Seems imminent that Penang will enter the "dry...

Re: Rodi's thread about the haze issue.

Hopefully the GOP will come to its senses before the first caucus in January. As for American voters, they have no senses. Just guns

Re: Rodi's thread about the haze issue.

Writing opinions on a forum about air pollution is not participating in activities. Examples would be attending political rallies, disrespecting the local religion and perhaps disrespecting dress...

Re: Rodi's thread about the haze issue.

Well spoken. I actually think that's my point. I am one expat that has the freedom to move. I simply doesn't get how 80 million people, most of which don't have the mobility I have, don't...

Re: Those lazy, hazy days of Summer

Yes we have options and are luckier than many and for that I am grateful. But that doesn't mean the haze is any less frustrating since I genuinely believe it's controllable with real effort from...

Re: Those lazy, hazy days of Summer

I can breathe and my eyes don't burn in the rain. Human beings are not meant to inhale firestorms on a daily basis however. I'll take something natural in nature any day over irresponsible arson for...

Re: Those lazy, hazy days of Summer

I am extremely anti gun and don't condone America's biggest problem. No offense was meant. From what I've heard in this forum and around town most folks do accept it the haze as unsolvable so they...

JC3

Extremely useful and well crafted post. Thanks for the information.

I understand that forest fires above ground are much easier to put out and burn slower. And obviously you can't compare...
