So I would by chance have timed my visit to Penang correctly? I was there in September, before the heaviest phase of the haze started. And am scheduled to arrive there later this week.
Thanks for advising me to bring an umbrella.

I stick with the scientific consensus that the Earth is warming, and that it is extremely likely (at least 95% probability) that humans are causing most of it.
Interesting study published by NASA today claims that the Antarctic ice cap is actually growing and not shrinking as previously thought. Evidence of global warming is getting harder to find.

Well it's not up to me to try to convince someone who is determined to believe climate change is not happening. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of studies proving the climate is changing and that we humans are causing it. As already stated This is also the consensus under the vast majority of scientists.

That just proves there's a whole industry riding on the back of the global warming theory plus there are the governments tax-raising programmes which rely upon it not to mention political parties and individual politicians for whom it is their whole raison d'etre.

Last week one of the top French TV weather forecasters added his name to the list of doubters and the next day he was dismissed from the network.

It seems to me global warming is like a religion, you need faith to believe in it and you will be persecuted if you don't.

A very good point IVV...much like the CNN show I saw a few days ago with Fareed Zakaria questioning Richard Dawkins....

Hehe...need a new topic here. I'm not totally convinced about climate change either. Too many governments got a lot to lose.

Though it doesn't alter the fact (neatly back on topic) that the Haze issue is man-made for sure and SOMETHING should be done about it.

Another interesting fact, which is perhaps off topic , though climate change is a slight deviation anyway, is the fact that when a volcano goes into action, it spews out more pollution than all the cars ever to have been put on Earth combined. How shall we get rid of the volcanoes?

There is a way BB...'Joe and the Volcano'...remember Tom Hanks (Joe) and Meg Ryan Patricia)....

The Waponis treat them to a grand feast. Their chief (Abe Vigoda) asks one last time if anyone else will volunteer, but there are no takers and Joe heads for the volcano. Patricia tries to stop him, declaring her love for him. He admits he loves her as well, "but the timing stinks." Patricia gets the chief to marry them.
Afterwards, Patricia refuses to be separated from Joe. When he is unable to dissuade her, they jump in together, but the volcano erupts at that moment, blowing them out into the ocean. The island sinks, but Joe and Patricia land near their trusty steamer trunks. At first ecstatic about their miraculous salvation, Joe tells Patricia about his fatal brain cloud. She recognizes the name of Joe's doctor as that of her father's crony and realizes that Joe has been set up. He is not dying and they can live happily ever after, but they both affirm that they have to hang on to the multi-purpose steamer trunks.

Any volunteers to emulate them...free holiday to Lombok thrown in (Mount Rinjani is currently erupting).
