Re: Good news re tax for 417 visa holders

There are a lot of strong accusations being thrown around here.

If someone on a WHV stays mainly in a single location, e.g. in Sydney, for the majority of the year (as I have done) they are...

Re: Good news re tax for 417 visa holders

Eh? Aren't most classed as non-residents?

Re: Visa subclass 189: submittal process

In your scenario the CO will contact you to request the medicals, give you a HAP ID, and you'll get a period of time to provide this.

The 60 days is just how long your invite is valid for, until...

Re: 189 skilled visa.. Do it my self or go through a agent

Won't make a difference, but there's no reason why you can't do it yourself providing you follow the instructions and can evidence the points you've claimed.

Re: Urgent help needed regarding work visa!

Source? If there's no LMIA fee you're paying lawyer costs.

Re: Urgent help needed regarding work visa!

If it's just for PR there is no fee, and is there somewhere that says a worker can't pay the lawyer fees if an employer won't?

Re: Urgent help needed regarding work visa!

A young person that's gone to the trouble of moving continents, then is good enough to land a NOC 0/A/B job and keep it for at least a year should be exactly the type of person you'd think would be...

Re: Visa subclass 189: submittal process

60 days to submit (pay the fee and do that online form), then you can start to add documents.

You can already arrange medicals (though my health declarations) and you can add documents at a...

Re: Urgent help needed regarding work visa!

Even if they did want to stay, unless I've missed something, they still have to go through the exact same process as everyone else and same criteria. The only advantage would be potential points...

Re: Urgent help needed regarding work visa!

Absolutely it is, although they may not always want to if they've got somone already doing the job competently.

Re: Urgent help needed regarding work visa!

It won't be cheap, is unlikely, but is an option. I had it but decided not to when advised by their lawyer it probably wouldn't be successful and their costs would be around $1500 plus the $1000...

Re: Urgent help needed regarding work visa!

The other option is offering to pay the costs so the employer doesn't have anything to lose by applying.

OP I ran into almost exactly the same scenario as you working in a great, high skilled, job...

Re: Melbourne worlds most liveable city for 5th year in a row.

Melbourne is a fabulous place to live, took a while to grow on me but I can totally see why it would be #1.

Having also lived in Auckland, Vancouver and Calgary I would say:

- Auckland...

Re: UK Student loan repayment

Theoretically in that example the finance company can stop you exporting the car while there's still an outstanding amount on it.

I agree non-payment isn't a moral option but it unfortunately...

Re: Newly Qualified Nurse wanting to go Down Under

Isn't the cap for nurses on 189s substantial? Based on that you'd think there was a significant shortage.

Re: UK Student loan repayment

I agree with you and did pay mine back after leaving as a point of principle, but I know many who didn't bother and weren't traced.

Re: Newly Qualified Nurse wanting to go Down Under

I did in 2013, just outside of your timeline :) It's certainly not easy but it was quite common for many colleagues in IT from the UK.

Re: Newly Qualified Nurse wanting to go Down Under

The WHV does have a restriction that you can only work for the same employer for 6 months max which is worth being aware of.

That being said it is possible to move onto a 457 onshore.

Re: UK Student loan repayment

I think it's 6 years for being statute barred for most loans, and even then some of them aren't enforceable abroad so all they can do is threaten you.

Student loans are definately different...

Re: UK Student loan repayment

Definately worth paying, in practice it may not be enforceable or they may not be able to trace but it's not worth the potential hassle. If you plan on returning to the UK at some point or have...

Re: IEC 2015

Think I just apply online and have impied status after the end of my work permit for 4 days.

Can I then withdraw my application once I've left Canada as I doubt it'll be processed before I do?

Hey guys, quick question - we're moving to Oz in the near future and due to quarantine rules for pets will need to stay (but not work) beyond the expiry of the IEC visa by 4 days.

I know we can...

Re: Moving to Oz

Isn't it the date of application rather than arrival for a 417? I think you can actually arrive when you're 31.
