Re: SPANISH PENSION CONTRIBUTIONS

Hi,

I'd like to watch this one . . .

I've always been told that there are no 'voluntary contributions' to Spanish national insurance scheme as there is in the UK. But I'd like to be told...

Re: Anyone going back empty load to UK/Eire?

Point taken, but a Russian outfit based on a 1930's design is hardly a Paris-Dakar truck - not really capable of concealing 1Kg of coke let alone 1.4 tons...

Hi Fred,

Could you point me to the details of this so that I can do my own research?

Re: Catalan independence

Nope, it's the other way round . . .

"There are four main reasons: little respect for Catalan language and culture; Spain’s lack of recognition of its plurinational nature; the attempts to...

Re: Catalan independence

I'll leave the 'wall' issue, apart from asking, again, 'What has this got to do with the topic?'

But, " but we can expect a few riots to come." How' When? Whom?

Have you seen a Catalan riot or...

Re: Anyone going back empty load to UK/Eire?

Well I hope your comment was well intentioned but there's not really anywhere to hide anything on a motorbike!

If one followed your train of thought nothing would get transported to anywhere!

Anyone going back empty load to UK/Eire?

Hi,

I have a motorbike and sidecar for sale. It's in the Pyrenees close to the N-230 Lleida (aka Lérida) to France trunk road (via the Vielha Tunnel)

I have some possible buyers but the bike...

Re: New CGT rules for non-residents, how calculated?

Thanks Fred,

So, are you saying that all we would have to do is 'move' back into the UK house, pay Council Tax, utility bills, etc. before we sell the house we are in the clears of Spanish CGT...

Re: New CGT rules for non-residents, how calculated?

Hi Fred,

"The over 65 rules should apply to UK property, but you have to be 65 at the time of the sale and it has to be your habitual residence at the time of the sale. Habitual, as far as the...

Re: New CGT rules for non-residents, how calculated?

Thanks Neptuno, actually we're lucky on one score as we live in Catalonia and have done since 1999 so no issue with IHT on our assets here.

Fred, your advice is great, as always, but I'll adding a...

Re: New CGT rules for non-residents, how calculated?

Not enough evidently. But how can anyone pay IHT on their only asset without selling the same asset? This defies all logic!

PS this would also apply to me - and surely this must happen to lots of...

Re: New CGT rules for non-residents, how calculated?

Hi matey,

No, I don't think I0m confusing the two. She would have to sell the UK house as it's the only asset that she could realistically have access to to raise the money - ironically on the...

Re: New CGT rules for non-residents, how calculated?

I'm not at all sure Billy. I hadn't noticed the clause about buying another residence until you pointed this out.

The trouble is that one can't find anywhere with the full information, even my...

Re: New CGT rules for non-residents, how calculated?

That sounds like the typical 'Catch 22' situation. But isn't there a convention that one pays either one tax or the other, whichever is less to the tax payer?

Re: New CGT rules for non-residents, how calculated?

Hello Lee,

I think it's been cleared up but to clarify my situation:

I'm resident in Spain with a Uk property that is let at present. The new CGT rules close a 'loophole' in which UK...

New CGT rules for non-residents, how calculated?

I'm sorry if this has come up before and/or pertains to ex-pats everywhere . . .

In brief, as of next April (2015) UK CGT will apply to non-residents selling their houses. But the tax will apply...

Re: Finding A Place In Catalonia - A Mission

Just google up: 'immobilario' 'alquiller' and your chosen region and look around.

You might find a pet a limitation and you'd have to be up front with that. Also don't get duped into paying the...

Re: Spanish Tax Treatment of UK Rental Income

So if I start taking income at age 60, which is the plan, i pay tax on 24% until I'm 66 and then 20% until 70 and so on, or do I carry on paying on 24% for "the whole period", i.e. until i shuffle of...

Re: Spanish Tax Treatment of UK Rental Income

Thanks Fred, your posts are the most clear and concise I've ever come across!

Is that 24% tax or 24% taxable, like the overseas property? Are you saying this goes up after 65?

Thanks,...

Re: Spanish Tax Treatment of UK Rental Income

Thanks Fred, this is really helpful.

So you pay IRPF on 40% (OK, 50% as of next year), at rates subject you your income in the normal way?

While I'm about it, date I mention income from QROPS?...

Sorry, but what is this "60%" reduction, this doesn't seem to be mentioned before or since?
