I believe it will be difficult for you to work out how good or bad the exchange rates people are getting as it depends on where the inter bank rate was sitting at the time they bought their US...

US DOLLAR STILL WELL ABOVE 1.60

GBP v USD is currently sitting at 1.6091 but has reached a high of 1.6101 today.

Still seems a good time to be buying USD.
